Athlete of the Week: Kaylee Krostag

The Pacelli softball team is just days away from competing in the Division III state tournament in Madison for the fourth time in five seasons. A big part of the reason they made it back is Kaylee Krostag, who is our Newsline 9 Athlete of the Week.

The senior pitched a two-hit shut out in last week's sectional final against Three Lakes/Phelps. This was not the first time she helped her team get to Madison, as a sophomore in 2013 she led Pacelli into the state tournament.

"Kaylee as the season goes all three years that she's pitched for us she's gotten stronger, she's gotten better the longer we go in the season and so having her there in the circle that she's been there already. She's pitched at Madison, she's pitched on Goodman diamond in that circle before," Pacelli head coach Ann Molski said.

Krostag isn't just there for her teammates in the circle, but even when she's off the field she has their back.

"When I'm hitting she's always like you got the magic sammie and stuff like that so she always knows how to make us smile and make us relax and have fun," Pacelli senior shortstop Sami Kay Shafranski said.

Krostag says she is happy this is how her high school career will come to a close.

"I think she's being able to like know that the last game that i play as a like Pacelli cardinal will be on Goodman diamond," Krostag said.
