It was predicted to have a monstrous opening at the box office, but "Jurassic World" exceeded expectations.

The dinosaur sequel shattered a major Hollywood record this weekend.

In North America alone, the film earned $208.8 million. That's the most money any movie has ever made in its opening weekend.

The previous record holder, "The Avengers", made $207 million.

"Jurassic World" made even more money in other parts of the globe. Overseas, the film brought in $315 million, bringing the grand total to more than half-a-billion dollars.
