Packers rookie Ty Montgomery

The Packers minicamp began Tuesday and it was really just a continuation of OTA's. One of the only newer faces on the field was rookie third round draft pick Ty Montgomery. Montgomery missed most of the packers organized team activities because Stanford's classes were still in session.

"It kind of felt like being grounded and all your other friends get to go play and like your grounded and that's kind of what it felt like, but you know graduation means a lot not only to me but to my family that Stanford degree can never be taken away from me," Montgomery said.

This was the rookies third practice with the full team and head coach Mike McCarthy likes what he sees.

"I thought Ty looked excellent, he had a very good practice Friday and I thought he had another good practice today so he does some things very natural," McCarthy said. "He's really picked it up really quick especially for someone that hasn't been here."

Montgomery is working on learning the playbook in a hurry, and he is relying on some of the veteran receivers for help.

"You know thankfully we have the type of guys that we have here that have no issue helping me out if I have any questions to answer questions and you know following us around the field," Montgomery said.

Packers minicamp continues through Thursday, but Wednesday the team is off the field for a team building activity.
