MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Assembly Speaker Robin Vos says Republican legislative leaders are focusing on cutting borrowing for road projects by $800 million.
Vos said Tuesday that the ongoing negotiations are focusing on how that reduction would be spread across the entire state.
Figuring out funding for roads is one of three major unresolved issues that have fed an impasse on the budget in the Legislature. The other two are a financing deal for a new $500 million Milwaukee Bucks stadium and changes to the state's prevailing wage law.
Vos says the final language of the Bucks deal announced in broad terms two weeks ago is still being finalized. He says the prevailing wage proposal remains fluid.
Vos says it's still doable to have the budget passed by July 1.
