WAUSAU (WAOW) -- Now that warmer months are here, homeowners have a lot to do to keep up with their lawn.
Thursday morning we caught up with Newsline 9's Mike Breunling. He used to work in landscaping and gave us some tips to keeping our yards in tip top shape.
He says it's important to keep a good amount of mulch in your beds. This helps keep weeds away and keeps the roots of the plants cool.
As for the grass, Mike recommends mowing it longer as we get into summer. He says usually we don't have as much rain fall so the longer your grass is above ground the longer the roots are below ground. That helps to keep the lawn moist.
He also says longer grass helps to crowd out the weeds.
