Kloppenburg, Donald plan runs for Wisconsin Supreme Court
MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- State Appeals Court Judge JoAnne Kloppenburg is running for the state Supreme Court and Milwaukee County Circuit Judge M. Joseph Donald says he also plans to get in.
Kloppenburg announced her candidacy Friday in an email. She is seeking the seat currently held by Justice Patrick Crooks that is up for election in April.
Crooks declined comment.
Donald formed a campaign committee last week and said in an email Friday he plans to make a formal announcement launching his bid soon. He was appointed as circuit court judge by former Republican Gov. Tommy Thompson in 1996.
Kloppenburg previously ran for the Supreme Court in 2011, but lost by just over 6,000 votes to conservative Justice David Prosser.
