RACINE, Wis. (AP) -- Two people are dead and a driver in custody after two vehicles collided in downtown Racine.
The Racine Police Department says the crash was reported on Main Street just after 1:30 a.m. Sunday.
Police say one vehicle was traveling north when it was struck by another vehicle traveling south. The driver of the southbound vehicle ran away and was apprehended by a security officer from Metro Security and Public Safety.
Three people were in the northbound vehicle. All three were taken to a Racine hospital, where two of them died. The third occupant was transferred to Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee.
Police say the driver of the southbound vehicle was injured. A passenger in that vehicle also is being treated for injuries.
Racine police and the Wisconsin State Patrol are investigating.
