Kentucky clerk sued for not issuing gay-marriage licenses

Posted:

MOREHEAD, Ky. (AP) -- Four couples in Kentucky are suing a clerk who is refusing to issue anyone a marriage license following the U.S. Supreme Court decision that same-sex couples have a legal right to marry.

The ACLU of Kentucky has filed a federal lawsuit against Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis on behalf of two homosexual and two heterosexual couples.

Davis says her Christian beliefs prevent her from issuing marriage licenses to gay couples, so she's won't be issuing marriage licenses to anyone, gay or straight.
