CHICAGO (AP) -- Scientists are testing whether a pill can prevent diabetes.
The study, funded by the National Institutes of Health, tests 400 adults and children, and those in the study are at risk for developing Type 1 diabetes.
Participants are given one insulin pill or a placebo each day.
A smaller, preliminary study by different researchers showed that the immune systems of children changed when they took insulin pills.
