Canada lawyer wants Chinese man's extradition case postponed

Posted:

The Canadian lawyer for a Chinese businessman who is facing extradition to the United States for allegedly stealing American military secrets wants his client's case postponed indefinitely.

Greg DelBigio said Wednesday that a shortage of Royal Canadian Mounted Police resources is causing delays in translating information from electronics seized from accused hacker Su Bin following his arrest last year.

Su is accused of working alongside two Chinese military officers to steal restricted information from several military contractors, including Boeing and Lockheed.

DelBigio says Su should have access to any information that could be used against him in court.

Canada is attempting to revoke Su's residency status.

B.C. Supreme Court has heard that the U.S. is applying to send investigators to Canada to help with translating data from the seized equipment.
