Thousands participate in annual chair line before Hodag Country Music Festival
RHINELANDER (WAOW) -
The rush to find that perfect spot is a Northwoods tradition ahead of the Hodag Country Music Festival in Rhinelander.
Before the big acts hit the stage, people lined up to claim their spot at the festival grounds.
The fans gambled for a spot in the chair line.
People choose one of six lines around the grounds that have a color. The lines are chosen at random by Hodag staff for people to enter the grounds. Then, people grab their thing, and pick their spot by the stage.
Blue was the first line called this year.
We talked to one of the first in that line, and who got prime real estate for his spot.
"It's awesome,” said Curt Dombrowski of Amherst Junction. “We're ready to have a good time, and it's nice to be back up in front."
He's been coming to Hodag for 25 years, and this is the second time he's been chosen first.
"To interact with the bands and to be happy with all my friends and my Hodag family, it's great," said Dombrowski.
People say there's no secret to get to the front of the stage. They say all it takes is a little bit of luck.
"It's a great atmosphere,” said Felicia Bella of Plover. “Everyone is always super friendly, everyone is always so nice and it's great. It's a great time."
People are ready to have some fun, even if they weren't so lucky with their line choice.
