EDGAR (WAOW)- Investigators are searching for the thieves who broke into St. John's Catholic Church in Edgar.
The break-in was discovered early Sunday morning when the priest arrived to prepare for the upcoming services.
"They broke open a window to gain entry to the building and they rifled through the entire building," Capt. Dale Wisnewski of the Marathon County Sheriff's Department said.
Investigators say the burglars rummaged through doors, forced their way into locked doors, stole a safe and some money.
Church leaders say they are grateful there was no damage to the sanctuary.
