MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Dane County authorities say a nail gun and knife were found where a Madison man allegedly killed his developmentally disabled 16-year-old son then attempted to kill himself.
Emergency responders were called to Token Creek Park near DeForest, north of Madison, Tuesday evening. The 16-year-old was dead at the scene. His 47-year-old father was flown to UW Hospital.
The Wisconsin State Journal reports that search warrants filed Thursday say the boy's throat was cut, and that the father had been shot in the head with the nail gun.
The father remained in critical condition Thursday. The warrants said he was on life support and showed minimal brain activity.
The sheriff's office says the family was facing a change in the boy's respite care services, but gave no details.
