Woman believed to be oldest Wisconsin resident turns 112
WAUSATOSA, Wis. (AP) -- A woman believed to be Wisconsin's oldest living resident has celebrated another birthday.
Viola Jacobi turned 112 on Saturday. She celebrated with cake and lemonade at the Lutheran Home in Wauwatosa.
Jacobi, who is known as Vi, marked her birthday with family members that included great-great-grandchildren.
She told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel she has no idea how she's lived so long. She told party-goers she's had "a beautiful life."
Jacobi's daughter, Judy Wold, says every time her family sees her, "it's a gift."
Jacobi was born Viola Kirchner on July 25, 1903, on a farm in the Town of Granville. She and her husband, Conrad Jacobi, who died in 1989, raised four children. Vi Jacobi now has 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
