(CNN) -- Americans are not eating enough fruits and vegetables and the federal government is not too happy about it.
A new study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says up to 80 percent of all Americans are not eating the recommended amount of fruits and vegetables.
The CDC called on the US to create consumer demand for fruits and vegetables through various means including competitive pricing and promotion.
So what does the CDC recommend in terms of fruits and vegetables?
For adults who perform 30 minutes of daily, moderate physical activity, they should eat one-and-a-half to two cups of fruit, and two to three cups of veggies per day.
