Police: 1 killed when church bus crashes near Indianapolis
GREENFIELD, Ind. (AP) -- Authorities say one person was killed and at least 11 were hurt when a church bus crashed along Interstate 70 near Indianapolis.
Indiana State Police Capt. David Bursten says the bus was traveling from northwestern Indiana when it crashed Tuesday in eastbound lanes about 20 miles east of Indianapolis.
An administrator with IU Health says two adults and two children were being treated at two Indianapolis hospitals. All were in fair condition.
A spokesman for a Greenfield hospital says it was treating seven people with non-life-threatening injuries.
The bus was carrying members of Gary's St. Jude Family Worship Center. Terrance Gardner, who was with the group but traveling in a car behind the bus, told WTHR-TV the group was headed to a youth convention in the Dayton, Ohio, area.
