"Bruce the goose" relocated after being raised by humans in Wausau

WAUSAU (WAOW) – A Canada goose is being rehabilitated at the Raptor Education Group in Antigo, after authorities believe it was raised by humans and abandoned, according to a post on the Wausau Police Department Facebook page.

Police say they were called to a home on the southwest side of Wausau on Sunday night, for a report of a goose in a garage.

The post says the officers relocated the goose to Rookery Park. Police named the goose “Bruce” according to the post.

The next day, “Bruce” was found on a porch on the southwest side of town, “knocking on the door of the house.”

He was then taken to the Raptor Education Group.

Experts say “Bruce” was likely raised by people from a young age because of his fondness of people. They say he doesn't know how to be a goose because he wasn't raised as one by another goose.

Because of this, “Bruce” now has a permanent home at the Antigo facility.
