Adult, child hurt when privately owned tram falls on cliff
HOULTON, Wis. (AP) -- St. Croix County authorities say an adult and child were hurt when a privately owned tram that takes people up and down a cliff malfunctioned and fell to the bottom.
The sheriff's office says the accident happened about 3 p.m. Wednesday at a private home in rural Houlton in western Wisconsin. KSTP-TV reports a 9-year-old girl and 21-year-old man were injured when they were ejected from the tram. It malfunctioned during the final 15 feet.
The two victims were taken by boat to a nearby marina and then to Regions Hospital in St. Paul by ambulance with serious injuries.
