Baraboo adopts new code of conduct for sporting events

Posted:

BARABOO, Wis. (AP) -- Parents and other fans must now adhere to a new code of conduct at high school sporting events in Baraboo.

The Baraboo High School Parent/Fan Code of Conduct was developed this summer at two meetings consisting of about 25 students, parents and coaches. Athletic Director Jim Langkamp presented it Monday night at the Baraboo School Board meeting.

Under the new rules, coaching from the stands will no longer be tolerated. No booing, taunting or posting negative comments on social media are allowed either.

The Baraboo News Republic reports that a copy of the code will be included in programs at the Sept. 4 football game.

Langkamp has said a handful of incidents last school year prompted the creation of the code.
