(CNN/WPMT) -- We've all heard that cats have 'nine lives', and it seems Opie is no exception.
The feisty feline is being hailed as a hero after taking a bullet for his owner.
Early Thursday morning, a stray bullet went through a window in Angelica Sipe's home in York, PA.
The bullet went into the couch, through Opie, and then ricocheted around the room, finally coming to rest in a loveseat pillow just inches from Sipe's three-year-old son.
Sipe's said that, when she took opie to the vet, she had the option to have him put to sleep, but just couldn't do it:
"Yeah, I told them I didn't, I wanted to keep him. He was my sons little hero. He saved my son's life so i have to keep him around," said Sipe.
Opie has some muscle damage, but he's expected to be okay.
More snow, freezing rain, sleet, and wind on the way.
