Medical examiner sheds light on fire that killed 2 children
MILWAUKEE (AP) -- The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office is shedding new light on how two children were trapped and killed in a house fire.
The fire broke out just after 2 a.m. Friday. After crews put out the flames, 11-year-old MaKayla Myles was found in a second-floor bedroom of their Milwaukee home. Her 6-year-old brother, Marwaun, was in the same bedroom where he had hidden in a closet.
The report says their mother, Natasha Jones, had already led Marwaun outside. But when Jones went back in for her 11 year-old, the 6-year-old boy went back in for his big sister, too. She yelled for them to follow her out. But when she ran from the house, they weren't behind her. Neighbors couldn't save them.
