Kitten rescued from underground pipe near Green Bay
DE PERE, Wis. (AP) -- Firefighters in a city outside Green Bay have rescued a kitten that was trapped in an underground pipe at a home.
De Pere assistant fire chief Al Matzke says firefighters determined the kitten was in the storm water pipe Tuesday after authorities got a call from a landscape contractor. Matzke says workers at the home had heard the sound of a crying cat coming from a storm sewer in the street.
Matzke says the kitten apparently got in the pipe from the sewer and got stuck when the pipe turned up at a 90-degree angle.
Firefighters dug around the pipe and cut it, freeing the kitten. Matzke says it looked to be in good shape and was taken to the Brown County Humane Society.
