Community holds candlelight vigil for crash victim

TOWN OF TEXAS (WAOW)-- Friends and family gathered for a candlelight vigil Wednesday to remember a Wausau East senior, killed in a car crash.
Marathon County Sheriff's officials say 17-year-old Paige Bootz died when she hit the back of a parked garbage truck on Highway WW in the Town of Texas Monday.
Paige was an honor roll student, involved in band, art, the dance team, and archery.
Those who knew her say she always brought positive energy to everything she did.
"She was with me in band, she was with me in safe school ambassadors, she was literally in every club she could possibly be in to try to help somebody else," Paige's friend Aidan Coppersmith said.  "One of her favorite quotes was, 'If I can help even one person, that will make my life mean all the more."
Paige and her 11-year-old sister were headed to school when the crash happened.
She was pronounced dead at the scene, but her sister is expected to be okay.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
