Kitten named "Miracle" recovering after found in paper bag

RACINE, Wis. (AP) -- A tiny kitten found in a paper bag by Racine children earlier this month is recovering.

The Wisconsin Humane Society says the kitten was less than three weeks old when it was found Sept. 7. The Racine Journal Times reports the kids found it after one of them kicked a paper bag on the ground -- and the kitten rolled out.

Two other kittens in the bag were dead.

The Wisconsin Humane Society named the kitten "Miracle." Spokeswoman Angela Speed says Miracle is still weak and on antibiotics for an upper-respiratory infection, but has a strong will to survive.

Speed says the kitten is only 5 weeks old and won't be ready for adoption until he is at least 8 weeks old and weighs 1.2 pounds.
