But now, more teens are choosing to ditch an ex with a text.
A study by Pew Research Center shows about 30 percent of teens have used their phones to bid farewell to a former sweetie.
Still, they survey found most teens agree an in-person goodbye is more acceptable, despite the awkwardness.
