SUV slams into back of trolley bus, killing 1, injuring 20
PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- A sport utility vehicle has crashed into a trolley bus in Philadelphia, killing the SUV driver and injuring all 19 people on the bus. A passenger in the SUV has been critically injured.
Police say the crash happened Monday night in the city's Frankford section.
Investigators say the trolley bus had stopped at a stop sign. The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority says the SUV rear-ended the trolley bus, a type of electric bus powered by overhead cables.
The SUV driver was taken to a hospital and was pronounced dead there soon after. The injured SUV passenger has been hospitalized. The bus driver and all 18 passengers have been given medical treatment.
