The Trump swagger is seen, not always loved, worldwide

Posted:

BALMEDIE, Scotland (AP) -- Donald Trump is a recognized name worldwide. That's not to say it's a beloved one.

In Balmedie, Scotland, the real estate mogul is both praised and blamed for building a deluxe international golf course in a previously pristine spot. Some welcome the jobs; others say American voters should beware of a fast-talking scoundrel.

Balmedie shop worker Susan Munro lives adjacent to the Trump resort. She calls him a "strange fish."

He's known, too, in places far from any Trump signs.

In the Himalayan hill town of Dharamsala, a Tibetan monk says Trump is "making a lot of noise to be noticed."

In diverse parts of the world, many see his candidacy with a mixture of bemusement, astonishment and alarm. It's striking how many people know of him at all.
