TOWN OF WATERFORD, Wis. (AP) -- A 38-year-old Waterford man is charged with four felonies after authorities say he took painkillers and anti-anxiety medication within an hour of driving a school bus through a corn field.

Jason Stalbaum was charged Thursday with four counts of recklessly endangering safety. The criminal complaint says he told authorities he took the drugs recreationally.

On Tuesday afternoon, authorities were called about a bus that went into a field and then back onto the road in the Town of Waterford. The bus was located in the Town of Burlington with corn stalks hanging from its undercarriage.

Four children on the bus during the incident were not injured.

Stalbaum's attorney, Michael Younglove, says his client has entered not guilty pleas and now the justice process will take its course.
