VILLAGE OF PADDOCK LAKE, Wis. (AP) -- Authorities have released the name of the Kenosha County sheriff's deputy who fatally shot a man during a confrontation this weekend.
The Kenosha County Sheriff's Department identifies the deputy as Deputy James Campbell. Campbell has been a Kenosha County deputy for about 4 1/2 years.
According to the sheriff's office, 47-year-old Darren Myron Fude of Paddock Lake confronted deputies with a shotgun shortly before 6:30 p.m. Saturday and ignored orders to drop the weapon. Campbell then shot him.
Deputies gave Fude first aid, but he died in a hospital emergency room.
Campbell remains on paid administrative leave during an investigation.
No deputies were hurt. The Wisconsin Department of Justice's Division of Criminal Investigation will conduct the investigation.
