Voters across Wisconsin head to the polls

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- A photo ID is required to vote in the Wisconsin primary.

Polls are open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday when voters cast ballots in various local races and the statewide Supreme Court race.

The photo ID requirement had been in effect for the first time during the 2012 spring primary election, but a court soon blocked the law due to ongoing legal challenges. It takes full effect with Tuesday's primary.

Voters statewide are narrowing the field from three to two candidates who hope to become the next Supreme Court justice. Gov. Scott Walker appointed Rebecca Bradley to the court following the September death of N. Patrick Crooks. Appeals Court Judge JoAnne Kloppenburg and Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Joe Donald are challenging Bradley for a spot on the court.
