Wisconsin senators at odds over Supreme Court opening

Posted:

WAUSAU  (WAOW)-Wisconsin's senators are at odds on what to do with the open seat on the  U.S. Supreme Court.
President Barack Obama nominated Merrick Garland to the position.
The Senate must approve the nomination.
Democrats are putting  pressure on Senate Republicans to hold hearings on the nominee.
Republicans say they won't consider the nomination in an election year.
"I call on my largely Republican colleagues who have threatened to obstruct this nomination to do their jobs," said Democrat Tammy Baldwin.
"The highly politicized nature of a presidential election year is not conducive to the nomination and confirmation of a Supreme Court justice," said Republican Ron Johnson.
The opening on the high court came with the death of Justice Antonin Scalia.
