Packers release LB Nate Palmer


Third-year pro, linebacker Nate Palmer was released by the Green Bay Packers on Friday.

Palmer started 10 of the first 11 regular-season games in 2015 but was replaced late in the season by rookie Jake Ryan. He played mostly special teams thereafter.

Palmer returned last season after missing all of 2014 because of a knee injury he suffered in the preseason finale.

The former sixth-round pick from Illinois State became a starter in Week 2 last season after a season-ending injury to Sam Barrington. While Palmer was credited with 47 tackles in 2015, he also missed the third-most tackles on the team with nine and graded out the lowest in pass coverage, according to
