Pointers top Marian in doubleheader with duel shutouts


The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point baseball team notched up a pair of non-conference wins with back-to-back shutouts over Marian University today, 5-0 and 12-0.

In game 1 of the doubleheader, Ben Servais pitched a complete game to lead the Pointers to a 5-0 victory over the Sabres. Servais allowed eight hits and just one walk in the shutout victory. At the plate, Sawyer Shultz lead the Pointers, going 3-4 with a run scored. Clint Rose and Turner Doornink also contributed with two RBIs apiece.

In game 2, five Pointers pitchers combined for the a seven-inning shutout. On offense,Ben Gerber lead the way for Point with two hits, three runs, and two RBIs.

The Pointers (10-13) resume WIAC conference play on Saturday and Sunday, April 23-24 at University Field against UW-Platteville. First pitch on Saturday is slated for 12 p.m.
