Trump's Ex Defends Him After Story on His Relationships With Women

(ABC) -- One of Donald Trump's ex girlfriends has been speaking out against a New York Times story that featured her talking about her relationship with the real estate mogul in the early 1990s.

"It was extremely disappointing to read. Point blank. I was really, really upset when I started to read it," Rowanne Brewer Lane told ABC News today.

According to the Times, Brewer Lane claimed that Trump asked her to put on a swimsuit and then showed her off to the crowd at his Mar-a-Lago estate, an allegation Trump denied. Trump said he has "always treated women with great respect," the Times reported.

"I named a lot of things that he did that I thought were stand up things," Brewer Lane told ABC News. "And it just didn’t come across that way at all. They absolutely put the spin on it and gave it the negative connotation throughout the whole article. So I was pretty upset with them, I still am."

She's not the only one, as Trump himself has been slamming the article, which was published Saturday morning.

The presumptive Republican presidential nominee even called the CNN control room at one point today to make sure that they knew about a Fox News interview with one of the women featured in the article.

CNN's senior media correspondent Brian Stelter said that it was a "surreal experience" when the presumptive Republican presidential nominee called in.

"He wanted to alert" the CNN crew to an interview with Brewer Lane, a former model who dated Trump in the 1990s.

Trump has been blasting the Times story, which quoted Brewer Lane as well as several other women that he has worked with and been familiar with in recent decades.

The Times defended its article.

"Ms. Brewer Lane was quoted fairly, accurately and at length. The story provides context for the reader, including that the swimsuit scene was the "start of a whirlwind romance" between Ms. Brewer Lane and Mr. Trump," according to a representative.
