HARRISON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) -- An open house, air show and other events are planned next year as officials at Selfridge Air National Guard Base celebrate the facility's 100th anniversary.
Details of the festivities were announced Tuesday in Harrison Township, northeast of Detroit.
They also include precision flying by the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, military demonstrations, aircraft displays, concerts and parades.
Air Force Brig. Gen John Slocum says the centennial will honor the base's heritage. Slocum is commander of the base's 127th Wing.
About 4,400 people work at the base.
Scattered light snow and freezing drizzle lingers through daybreak Tuesday. Cooler and quiet the next few days.
