The Latest: Divers looking for plane crash pilot find body

Posted:
NEW YORK (AP) -- Police say divers searching for the pilot of a small World War II vintage plane that crashed in the Hudson River between New York and New Jersey have recovered a body.
They say the body came from the one-seater plane but they haven't confirmed the body is that of the pilot.
The Federal Aviation Administration says it received a report about the vintage P-47 Thunderbolt going down near the George Washington Bridge on Friday night. Firefighters say the plane had engine trouble before it went down.
The American Airpower Museum is celebrating the 75th anniversary of the P-47 Thunderbolt this weekend. Museum spokesman Gary Lewi says the plane is kept at the museum in Farmingdale, 30 miles east of New York City.
The crash happened near where a US Airways commercial jet carrying 155 people splash-landed in 2009 in what became known as the Miracle on the Hudson.
