"Cars for a Cause" show benefits Antigo High School
ANTIGO (WAOW) -
The first annual "Cars for a Cause" show was held in Antigo on Saturday, with all proceeds benefiting Antigo High School.
A group of three friends decided to plan an event around their passion for cars that would benefit the school and the community after the town endured a nightmare during the Antigo High School prom shooting.
"It's about the first responders, and it's about the kids," one of the planners, Charlie Schlieve Jr., explained. "I don't know exactly what they're going through, but I feel for them, and I wanted to show that we do appreciate the first responders and we appreciate the people in the town."
All of the proceeds from the tickets sold at the event will go toward Antigo High School, which will spread the donations however it wants to.
The event coordinators believe some of the donations will go toward the Antigo Police Department and other emergency service agencies that responded to the prom night shooting.
Car owners from Wisconsin and beyond rolled into the lot to show support, and many showed off their custom wheels, too.
While the car show, held at the Langlade County Fairgrounds, benefited the school, the group of friends hope to rev up their reach in the future.
"It could go toward Antigo, it could go toward Make-A-Wish, it could go toward anything, we've thought of all these ideas and we'd love to do more," Schlieve Jr. said.
