Marinette County sheriff's deputies kill Madison-area suspect
TOWN OF PEMBINE, Wis. (AP) -- Marinette County sheriff's officials say deputies have killed an armed man who they say presented a deadly threat.
Madison police issued a statewide bulletin about a man armed with a gun who had made threats of harm and was possibly headed to Marinette County.
Sheriff's deputies spotted the man driving in the Town of Pembine Wednesday evening. Deputies tried to negotiate with the man by phone until he stopped his vehicle in the road and armed with a gun approached the deputies. Authorities say the man didn't respond to commands to drop his weapon. Deputies responded with deadly force. The sheriff's department did not immediately say if the man was shot.
The Wisconsin Department of Justice will investigate.
