Rory McIroy misses cut at the U.S. Open

For the first time in since 2013, Rory McIroy missed the cut at a major.

The world's third-ranked golfer finished the first two rounds of the U.S. Open with a 148, two strokes shy of advancing. After making his first early exit since the Open at Muirfield in 2013, McIlroy declined to speak with reporters.

Among the other notables to miss the cut were Phil Mickelson and Rickie Fowler, who became the only current players among the top-50 ranked golfers in the world to have missed the cut at the Masters, Players Championship and U.S. Open.

Shane Lowry (-5) currently leads the field in round 3, followed by Andrew Landry (-3), Sergio Garcia (-2), Lee Westwood (-2), and Dustin Johnson (-2).
