Teen with terminal cancer throws party to celebrate life

(ABC) -- After learning her cancer had become terminal, one Minnesota teen decided she wanted to celebrate life.

Morgan Long, 19, threw a party to celebrate her journey after receiving the news in May that cancer has spread throughout her body, according to the teen's social media accounts.

Everyone remember that this Friday is my celebration of life party from 4-7 at the shrine in Hermantown. Make sure you come!

Long was diagnosed with a brain tumor at just 17 months and was treated with surgery. But at age 12 the disease returned and her battle has been long. According to her online fundraising site, the teen was in and out of the hospital for years and last month doctors found she now has 10 tumors in her body and they had no treatments left to offer her.

"My doctors have kept me alive for 19 years and for that I am so grateful," she wrote on the site. "But my time has come and I know that."

The teen decided to throw a party to celebrate her life before she entered hospice, according to KQDS-TV in Duluth, Minnesota. Family and friends released butterflies and gave speeches about her as she sat in the audience.
