Woodchucks fall to rival Rafters, 9-2


The Wisconsin Woodchucks (19-27, 6-5 Second Half) dropped the first of a two-game set to the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (31-16, 7-4 Second Half), 9-2, at Athletic Park in Wausau, Wisconsin.

Steele Walker (Oklahoma) drove in the Woodchucks' only two run with a two-run homer in the third, which was his fifth this season. He also extended his hitting streak to 17 games. The all-time Woodchucks record is 19 straight games with a hit.

Steve Passatempo (UMass Lowell) added three hits of his own. Jared Oliva (Arizona) had two hits, including a double, and scored a run.

Reggie Meyer (Minnesota) took the loss for the 'Chucks.

The Woodchucks play tomorrow in the second game against Wisconsin Rapids at Athletic Park on Sunday. First pitch is scheduled for 5:05 p.m.
