Robbery suspect fatally shot by police in Sheboygan


UPDATE: Authorities say an armed suspect was shot by police responding to a report of a robbery at a Sheboygan bar.

Sheboygan Police Chief Chris Domagalski says officers were called to the Union Avenue Tap about 11:30 p.m. Sunday. He says they encountered a man armed with a rifle leaving the bar. He was shot and died at the scene.

Domagalski says an employee of the bar suffered a gunshot wound and was taken to a Milwaukee hospital. The chief says it's not yet known whether the employee was shot by the suspect or was hit by police gunfire.

Two male officers involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave. The Winnebago County Sheriff's Department is leading the investigation.

The department will hold a news conference with more details at 9:00 a.m. today.
