3 dead in shooting in central England town

Posted:

LONDON (AP) -- Police say a man shot two women dead and then used the shotgun to kill himself in a quiet eastern England town.

The Lincolnshire Police force said the killings took place outside a swimming pool in Spalding, 90 miles north of London.

Police said officers were summoned Tuesday morning and found a dead man and two women with serious injuries. CPR was performed on the women, but both died.

The force said the three dead people were "known to each other" but did not specify their relationship.

British media identified them as 57-year-old Lance Hart; his partner Claire, 50; and their 19-year-old daughter Charlotte, from the Spalding area.

Britain has tough gun control laws and in recent years has seen a few dozen firearms killings a year.
