Nelson's "minor" injury lends extra reps to young Packers pass catchers

Jordy Nelson is still sidelined, but it's not because of the right ACL that kept him out for the entirety of last season. Nelson revealed Tuesday, it's actually another minor injury in his other leg that has him on the P.U.P list to start training camp.

"Through training this summer, we had an incident with the other knee," Nelson said. "Nothing serious. Just a little hiccup, minor thing. So our end goal is still the same. We'll be ready for the regular season. Something that is going to progress... And not the acl. No one needs to freak out!"

And while fans can't wait for Nelson's return, at the very least, his early absence gives the younger receivers a few extra reps.

"We're going right back to install number one," Packers coach Mike McCarthy said. "I really just want to see that receiver group jump out there and get going in some live action. Particularly in the area or receivers, the routerunning and some of the new drills that we put in in the spring."

"We're getting plenty of reps, but the reps are obviously good," Packer wide out Jared Abbrederis said. "It would be nice to have Jordy out there because you can learn from him. I'm excited to have Jordy out there when he gets back. But until then we just have to do our best to take advantage of the reps that we get."
