Actress Mandy Moore seems to be approaching the recent ups and downs in her life with plenty of perspective.

During a panel Tuesday at the Television Critics Association tour for the upcoming drama series “This Is Us,” Moore addressed her recent split from former husband Ryan Adams and the obstacles in her career.

When People magazine asked her how she's doing after the divorce, Moore emphasized that she’s "Fantastic," but then added, "It's tough. Life is not easy. I think it's been great to be able to take all of the chapters in my life and be able to pour it into a job like this because it all helps. It's all fuel."

The newly single Moore, 32, pointed out that without a relationship, she is now able to focus all her energy on her work.

"I think everything happens for a reason," she told People. "I think I spent a good portion of the last years of my life really pouring all of my energy into my life and relationship, and now that that's sort of not part of my life anymore."

Moore, 32, also acknowledged that her television career hasn't always been smooth sailing but maintained the same positivity. "It's sort of a soul-crushing thing to be a part of pilot season year after year and for things not to move forward," she said, laughing.

Still, the actress sees value in such experiences, reiterating that "things happen for a reason."

Moore will star in NBC's 'This Is Us' alongside Milo Ventimiglia, Sterling K. Brown and Justin Hartley, premiering this fall.
