Democratic U.S. Rep. Ron Kind has defeated his primary challenger for his seat in Congress.
Unofficial returns Tuesday showed Kind defeated former high school history teacher Myron Buchholz of Eau Claire in the race for western Wisconsin's 3rd District.
No Republicans ran for the seat. Barring an unlikely victory in November's election by a write-in candidate, Kind's primary win cleared the way for a 10th two-year term.
Buchholz faced an uphill fight against Kind, an eight-term incumbent. Federal campaign finance records showed Bucholz raised about $27,000 over the first half of 2016 compared with Kind's $1.7 million.
