Tretter named Packers starting center

Fourth-year Packer J.C. Tretter will start at center for the Packers for week one and beyond, according to coach Mike McCarthy.

McCarthy said Monday Tretter had an excellent camp and had earned the starting job. Former starter Corey Linsley is currently on the P.U.P list with a hamstring injury, however, Tretter has locked down the starting position in his absence. Tretter lost the starting job to Linsley in 2014 in similar fashion, due to an injury in training camp.

"I'd be lying if I wasn't going to say I'm excited now," Tretter said. "But again, it's going out there and now... you have to run with it.  You have to go out there and prove what you can do and continue to play well, and continue to go out there and show what you can do."
