COPY-Portage Co. Crime Stoppers: $7,000 worth of tools ripped off


A thief targeted a shed full of yard tools on a vacant property that's for sale in Portage County and stole thousands of dollars worth of equipment.

It happened at 3005 North Shore Dr. in the Town of Linwood.

The owner showed up Aug. 14, to do yard work. opened a storage shed and realized her riding lawn mower, two chainsaws and an electric log splitter were gone.

"There are about $7,000 worth of materials that were taken out of the shed," Portage County Sheriff Mike Lukas said. "The property is near Highway 66, which is a heavily traveled road. I believe someone is going to be able to give us a description of someone loading or leaving with the stolen goods," 

Investigators released the following descriptions/serial numbers on the stolen items:

--2004 Husqvarna riding lawn mower, Model 2448.

--DR. electric 6-ton log splitter, serial # WS6000874

--Stihl chainsaw, MS 180 I.

--Stihl chainsaw, MS 210 C.
