BANGKOK (AP) -- An American woman is in a hospital in Thailand with a broken spine, after police say she tumbled down a 150-foot cliff trying to escape a man who was allegedly trying to sexually assault her.

Police say the 23-year-old woman was attacked last Thursday night in the southern season province of Karbi, a popular tourist destination.

She was found by rescuers the next morning. The alleged attacker is in custody.
