Packers prepare for Cowboys' stand-out Rookies

Cowboys' Ezekiel Elliott & Dak Prescott Cowboys' Ezekiel Elliott & Dak Prescott

The Green Bay Packers are spending a little more time in the class room this week, studying their opponent, the Dallas Cowboys, paying close attention to the opposing offense. In particular, the Packers are directing much of their attention to two rookie stand-outs, Quarterback Dak Prescott, and Running Back Ezekiel Elliott.

The two first-years have been the talk of the season. Elliott having been drafted in the 2016 NFL Draft in the first round, fourth overall out of Ohio State filling in for an injured Dez Bryant, and Prescott in the fourth round, taking over the QB number one spot as an injured Tony Romo remains sidelined.

Prescott and Elliott aren't just good, though, they're great, contributing to a new NFL record as the Cowboys became the first team in NFL history to have a rookie quarterback with at least 1,000 passing yards and a rookie running back with at least 500 rushing yards in the first five games of the season.

To top it off, Elliot has rushed for 130 yards or more in three straight games and leads the NFL this season in rushing yards and first downs. Meanwhile, Prescott is just eight pass attempts away from breaking Tom Brady's "Most Pass Attempts Without an Interception to Start a Career" record of 162, Prescott through five games has 155 attempts.

So needless to say, the Packers top ranked run defense will have its work cut out for them on Sunday. But even if they are able to contain Elliott and the run, the rest of the defense will need to be wary of Prescott's ability to take the the air.
